Three thousand years ago, wizards commanded by the evil Deimos attacked the elf capitol. They stole the Rombus crystal in the hopes of creating a gateway to the underworld, but they were defeated and the crystal was destroyed. Now the wicked Tirit has collected the scattered pieces of the Rombus and opened the gateway. You must make the long journey to Tirit's tower to destroy the crystal. Featuring stunning visuals inspired by ancient Mayan culture, breathtaking arcade action and a well-balanced difficulty curve, Bonampak was made with fans of Hyperballoid and Magic Ball in mind. Comment about the game:
When I saw a new arkanoid being released I was really excited. :) Most recent arkanoids have lived up to their hype and have been brilliant (Hyperballoid 2, Actionball 2, Ricochet Infinity, Reaxxion etc etc). Unfortunately, on playing this game I was very very very disappointed. It's definitely caught the feel of the original hyperballoid, with some spectacular level sets, (though I don't see the connection to the Magic Ball series) but as with the original hyperballoid, the ball speeds are appallingly slow. so much so that I could only play the game for a couple of levels the first time around. I've since played out the demo on three computers and to be honest I haven't changed my mind. The game is ultra boring despite it's beauty.
This is going to be the first arkanoid I've not bought for several years. I've bought every arklanoid I've known about for years, until now (yeah I have a couple of hundred Arkanoids) - some were a mistake and are no better or even worse than todays game, but at the time I bought them, they were actually relatively ground breaking stuff. (If you go and read the hyperballoid comments for example, when I first discovered it, I thought it was fantastic and named it my number one arkanoid (togther with Magicball 2). I was lulled by the most beautiful levels I'd ever seen, but after buying every level set that was released up to the Christmas 06 level set. I came to realize that there was nothing else to the game apart from its beauty.
As you would expect with time, things get better, more exciting and graphically more aesthetic, but that's not the most important part of any arcade game.
I'd consider buying this if the ball speeds were adjusted. Perhaps update the game with a slider so that you can control the ball speed yourself. Either of these changes would improve the game drastically.
(p.s. if you did take up the idea I would expect a discount, lol)
